There is always opportunity amidst challenge, and that is where the concrete industry is in the face of our climate crisis. A material synonymous with strength and durability, concrete carries an environmental burden due to its high embodied energy and carbon footprint. Frankston Concrete is committed to doing what we can to improve the environmental cost of our products by improving manufacturing methods of our precast concrete products, stormwater pits and reinforced concrete pipe (RCP).
The development and use of alternative binders, such as geopolymers, and supplementary cementitious materials, like fly ash and slag, offer opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete. These sustainable materials can replace traditional Portland cement while maintaining structural integrity. At FCP we have adjusted our mix to incorporate 25% of fly ash.
Embracing a circular economy approach, where concrete is recycled and repurposed at the end of its life, can significantly reduce embodied energy. All waste product at Frankston Concrete Products is collected for recycling. Crushed and reused, the recycled concrete is used as aggregate and base material in road and other constructions.
Frankston Concrete Products employs sustainable practices where possible.

Shown here at the Brunswick’s 281 Coffee Roasters, they were also used externally to define parklets, during Covid restrictions. Our stormwater pits can also be seen at Rusty’s Bar in Sorrento as planter boxes and a sturdy tenancy divider.
